Staff Reports :

FN Greene gave a financial report that was provided for all present. We presently have $11,512.26 in our bank accounts. She has an audit committee and a budget committee. There should be a budget soon but the possible cost of a Coastie and Crab Festival will be challenging to meet for the year.

OP Kontra reported he is prepared to sign off those who are ready for inspection. TCT is coming; no dates yet. He will be off Island all of April. Boats in the water by may. Everyone working on operations needs to contact proper people ASAP and get as much of the ground school done now. Coastal Piloting needs to be done now and FC Hough will teach it. Please sign up ASAP! Kodiak Marine Supply has what is needed – engage.

VE Morris reported on the upcoming training for VE inspections and is working with the MWR boats to practice. Stickers are in and we are ready to train and inspect. There was a discussion about commercial examiners and Marine safety.

MA Hartley reported that uniforms and orders were in to be picked up.

IT/CS Nymeyer reminded everyone to sign in; make sure that your contact information is correct. She reviewed reporting of hours and essential information concerning the Website. Fingerprints and ID pics are available.

PA/PB Herman wants to put out our next newsletter next week; if you want to submit something please contact him. Herman told us about a Leadership and Management class that he had attended. (C-School Road Show) If anyone can assist with signup sheets for ABS classes please contact Herman.

The weekly show “Deck Watch” started and had a good start. It will be on weekly. (Friday on KXMT) We will share the booth at COMFISH – we need volunteers for 17-18 th of April and you must be properly dressed in Tropicals.

Len Schwarz reported 2 volunteers have assisted him and further explained what is going on as he documents AUX history.

FC Hough reported that March 20 an ABS class is scheduled to coincide with Safe Boating Month and there will be 120 new families transferring and will be taking advantage of the 3 upcoming classes prior to Crab Festival. There are already 35 scheduled for July. Anyone interested in Coastal Piloting and Advanced Navigation please see FC Hough. There is a need for someone who can teach the first four chapters of the ABS course; PowerPoint is available. If someone wants to become an instructor call Suzanne Jensen and schedule.

Awards : Mike Herter was cited for 5 years of faithful service and properly recognized. Roberta Blondin, Debra Rohrer received basic qualification certificates.

Coastie Purchase : SR Nymeyer presented information on the purchase our own Coastie and discussion ensued. FC Hough gave an estimate on replacing the funds that will be necessary to purchase this item ($10,247.06). There was a discussion about fundraising so that we were properly informed. Moved & Seconded.

One benefit is that we can now plan an entire year instead of depending upon “foreign Coasties” to meet the needs of Island children and local schools. There was a follow-up question concerning getting a Coastie here from off Island. We now need a Coastie Committee to take charge for the future. Paul Schwarz & Sharon Reppond will co-chair.

The motion was voted on and passed by the Auxiliary!

Crab Festival Committee : PA/PB Herman introduced Meghan Kincaid who spoke about an award that the AUX is planning to give to a group or individuals who assist and enhance Recreational Boating and announce the award. She is also working with the Chamber of Commerce to find requirements for a float and participation at Crab Festival.

Fellowship Committee : Rich Walker reported a fellowship event coming up for April possibly at the Bowling Alley. Volunteers are needed. Look for an email.

New Business : PS Lee announced that a new member meeting will be scheduled ASAP. An email will be forwarded. All new members need the ABS course.

Standing Rules were moved and seconded. Adopted

Respectfully Submitted,

SR Nymeyer
