USCG – Auxiliary
Monthly Meeting – July 13, 2010

Call to order – 18:00

Pledge & Opening Prayer – The pledge was said and prayer was offered.

Guests were introduced – The Anderson family along with Wes and Elizabeth Hanna from the Portland Flotilla.  Elizabeth is active duty as well and stationed in Portland.

Staff Reports:

SR – Nymeyer – Minutes presented and accepted

FN – Greene – 1779.74 in Checking & Savings – Most of the increase is from ABS classes.  Another class is scheduled July 24 – all day.

OP – Kontra – We (Bob & George) had our first rescue last week in Port Lions!  (Reported by Bob Hough)

VE – Morris – Working nights – no report.

MA – Hartley – No report but Coastie patches are available

IT/CS – Nymeyer – Reminded the Auxiliary to check in and verify information on the check in sheet.  Please turn in hours to assist the National funding of the Auxiliary.  Web  site is in tact – please report broken link sites.  The instructor training meeting will be July 28 at Jensen’s house. 

PA/PB – Herman – Has returned from a visit to the Eagle for 2 weeks.  He may go to the gulf in the Fall.  Arctic Awareness Flights over the Pole is available – next one is July 20th.  Please take and submit pictures.  An instructor is needed to teach in remote villages.

History – Schwarz – no report

Kids Don’t Float – Ross – Boxes have been distributed!

PE – Hough – If anyone needs 100/200 ICS please see Bob so that more of us can be certified and available for response.  July 24 – ABS – 08:00-16:30 – will be 30 kids. 

Induction of New Members: None

Awards & Certificates: Jenni McCarty received her 5 year award for service to new members.  Kelly Harris, Joyce Blair received their ABS, Walt Davis got his official ID.

Coastie Committee Report: We need a “Coastie presence” in the Base Gym on August 7 – Coast Guard Day.  The Gym will be set up with all the inflatables to entertain the kids. 

Fellowship Committee Report: Beach House and River clean-up on August 21st followed by a barbeque afterwards.  Check email for details – this will be our August meeting.  This will take some coordination effort.  FC Hough will lead with the help of others.

Questions and Flotilla feedback  – FC Hough challenged the Auxiliary to think about attending the Annual meeting in Anchorage.

Elizabeth Hanna (Active Duty) and her husband (Wes – Auxiliary - PE) made a presentation.  They are both in the Flotilla in Portland – both are involved in Operations.  She gave a report on their Flotilla and provided a power-point presentation on their operations.
