The meeting
was called to order by FC Amberg at 08:30 at the USCG Base galley.
The Pledge
was led by Bob Hough and prayer was offered by Mark Nymeyer.
Larry Fisher
was introduced as a guest from Anchorage along with Tad Morris’
wife Peggy.
The Agenda
was approved and the December minutes were noted as posted on line.
Comments
& presentations:
1. Announcement:
There is a need for Auxiliary to donate time and service on
St. Paul Island for two week stints between January and April.
2. AUX-04 is being offered in Alameda – an email was sent
out by Susan to
notify interested auxiliarists.
3. FC Amberg announced the staff officers, presented them certificates
and
swore them in.
4. FC Amberg introduced new member Dave Wilson, presented him with
a
certificate of membership and swore him in.
5. FC Amberg recognized Sandy Nedrow with a 5 year award.
6. FC Amberg read and presented an MTC award to Steve Campbell for
service to the Sitka Flotilla.
7. Bob Hough announced that study and training for Crew Certification
takes
place weekly at KSS headquarters on Wednesday evenings at 5:00 PM
and expects to be ready for certifications by April.
8. There were brief announcements by Gail Otto (PA) concerning Public
Affairs; Jessica AureDeguzman (PB) concerning Publications and Alan
Morris (VE) concerning Vessel Safety Checks.
9. Mark Gilmore from base security can connect people in the Auxiliary
with
enlisted personnel who do similar jobs on base to assist Auxiliarists
in their responsibilities and understanding their jobs.
Old
Business:
1. District
Conference is Feb. 15-17 in Homer. There is no C-130 available for
transport. Members interested in attending should contact FC Amberg
for arrangements and transportation.
2. This District Conference will be the last Conference for LCDR
Sue Albright
before she retires. The Flotilla discussed possible gifts from the
Kodiak Flotilla.
New
Business:
1. FC Amberg
noted that he had forwarded a Calendar for the year and was
asking for additional input for members to be aware of all upcoming
activities and opportunities.
2. We have been given more storage for Auxiliary use on the Base
in the
Civilian Barracks. There is a need for shelving to organize storage.
George Kontra will direct this effort with leadership and effort.
3. There was an emergency recall on Saturday, Jan. 6. This emergency
highlighted the need to improve our recall efficiency. A test recall
is planned so we can work out the difficulties. FC Amberg described
the recall list and the nature of its design.
4. For those interested in ICS training (100, 200, 300, 700) they
can get some of
the training on the FEMA website. Also, we can contact the Assistant
Chief at the Fire Station on Base for assistance.
5. A discussion developed on CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management)
training so that Auxiliarists can be part of any future emergencies.
Mark Nymeyer will pursue information for the next meeting.
6. COMFISH is in March – A lead person was identified
7. Joy Ng reminded everyone that Coastie would be here for COMFISH
and if
anyone needed to be trained they should see her.
