Yak noted life jackets hanging on wall at boathouse and crab cooker have been taken in by the Boathouse.  Walt will help with boxes repair.  Question re Old Harbor box needs.  Mark Nymeyer still planning to do more boxes.  Suggestion they be beefier.  Deb Rohrer says Gordon has life jackets to donate.  Yak says to call him and he'll pick up.

Steve Campbell has been gone all summer.  He is with AMSEA and former FC in Sitka.  He is qualified to do commercial vessel exams and works with LT Lee at MSD.  Vessels need to have sticker before can have observer on board.  Has taken recreational boating exam.  Four years ago went to vessel exam school.  Suggest LT Lee come to next meeting.

Maaike Myers and Tom Maloney reported on the Anchorage Aux leadership training.  They enjoyed seeing the different flotillas represented and hearing the way they operate.  Kodiak is the only flotilla who has a CG Base.  Kodiak may also be the only one who doesn't have many retirees.  Susan N. commented that more younger people may attend trainings than attend meetings.  Maaike noted average age in Aux is 67 years old.

Jackie Herter did highlights of all previous minutes and noted it was suggested awhile back that a 5-star program for 6-pack operators would be a good promotion/activity for Aux.

Visitors' Comments
USCG Mark Gilmore mentioned if need uniforms, they have what is called lucky bag from recruits who don't continue.  Greatly reduced prices if he can get a list of sizes from us.

Mike Amberg commented on hat.  Mark Gilmore suggested same style as CG with USCG AUX Kodiak.  Ours would be blue with silver while CG hats are blue with gold.  Mike Amberg will work with Maaike Myers on design or logo idea for hat as well as talk to CAPT Carmel.  Susan Nymeyer suggested we order polo shirts for uniformed look.  People at the training she went to couldn't understand why we don't.  They were all dressed in the light blue shirt and blue pants.

Old Business
Job Descriptions

New Business
Susan N. would like to see Aux purchase copy of Front Page 2003 which is CG approved for web design.  Can get education rate if send in instructor's certificate.  All in favor of granting purchase.

Susan N. suggested we put together presentations in manageable bites of 10 minutes for people who have expertise in boating or safety or anything of interest to the Aux to talk about.

Next meeting is November 11th.  Suggestion made to plan December's meeting as a combined meeting and Christmas get-together.
