MINUTES TO SPECIAL MEETING
U.S. COAST GUARD AUXILIARY December 9, 2006 Called to order @ 8:33am Pledge of Allegiance and Opening Prayer
Introduction of Visitors
Captain Mark Carmel, USCG Aux Liaison was present. Chief Bob Gross operations training officer from District 17, Mike Barnett from the police department, Len Schwarz with Fish and Game, and Paula Schwarz, a teacher from Main. FC Introductory Remarks & Announcements Certificates were presented to Susan Nymeyer and Mike Amberg. Certificates were also given to Maaike Myers and Tom Maloney for mid-level officers course. New member certificate was given to Joe Spears. Adoption of November Meeting Minutes Motion was made and seconded to approve minutes from November. Staff Reports Mike talked about the buoy and was able to get building N1 to work on it. Would like to have it completed by Tuesday. Suzanne reported that all the dues have been paid. 4 members retired and 2 were disenrolled. Susan reported that the new web site is up and a list of the new officers is posted on it. Don't forget to fill in your service hours. Yak is moving to Oregon. Jackie is out of town Old Business Buoy is going to be worked on this weekend. Hats: Mike mentioned that Captain Carmel has offered to help. Captain Carmel is hoping the exchange will carry the hats for us to purchase. The standard hat has to go with the uniform. Some talk about getting a casual hat was discussed. Member hours need to be reported before Sunday, December 10, to count for the year. New Business ABC class is tentatively be set up. More information will be given at the next meeting. The ABC class is a qualification for all new members. Several people are interested in teaching it. After the regular meeting, Chief Gross will meet with those who are interested in the OPS program. 4 suits have been obtained for the training. There is on XL. This training is necessary to be crew qualified. The final outcome is to get boats in the water. Chief Gross gave a brief report. He mentioned that Kodiak is the second largest flotilla in the district. We need commitment of boats to make it successful. He would like to see the crew qualified by summer. We need a minimum of 2 boats for the training. They will do AAA towing. He mentioned one other program - Personal Water Craft - jet skis - the size is 11feet long by 3 ½ feet wide. There was further discussion on the chain of command. Mike Amberg and Mark Nymeyer were sworn in as new FC and VFC. George turned the meeting over to Mike. Visitor Comments and Member Comments Captain Carmel went to a conference and said that our flotilla can really be used when we get the boats in the water. Mike went over the list of new officers. Sandy asked that we get dates for the ABC class The district training and awards conference is going to be Feb. 16-18th The next meeting is going to be January 13, 2007, Adjourned at 9:40 am |
